Delete your account
You can delete your Tejas account and the personal data we store about you at any time. This page explains exactly how to do that, what gets deleted, what we're required to keep, and how long the whole process takes.
1. Option A — delete from inside the app (fastest)
- Open the Tejas app on your Android device.
- Tap Settings (gear icon on the Home screen).
- Go to Account.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
The app signs you out immediately and your account is queued for deletion. You'll receive a confirmation in the email address linked to your account within a few minutes.
2. Option B — request deletion by email (if you've uninstalled the app)
If you no longer have the app installed, or you can't sign in, email us from the address registered to your account:
- To: privacy@tejas.app
- Subject: Account and data deletion request
-
In the body, please include:
- The email address you used to sign up.
- (Optional) The approximate date you created the account, to help us locate it.
We'll verify the request by replying to that same email address (so that only the account owner can trigger deletion), and then process it. We acknowledge every request within 3 business days and complete deletion within the windows described in section 4.
3. What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we delete the following from our primary systems:
- Your profile basics (name, email, date of birth, time of birth, place of birth).
- Your generated daily readings, saved entries, and any notes you created in the app.
- Your engagement history (streaks, check-ins, points, notifications preferences).
- Any device tokens used to send you push notifications.
- Your authentication records with our sign-in provider.
4. What we keep, and for how long
A small amount of data is retained — either because we're legally required to keep it, or because it can no longer be linked back to you:
- Encrypted backups: copies of deleted data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days after deletion, after which they are permanently purged.
- Anonymised analytics: aggregated, non-identifiable usage metrics (e.g. "N daily opens on date X") may be retained indefinitely. This data cannot be linked back to you.
- Transactional / billing records: if you have ever made a purchase, we retain receipt and invoice records for as long as tax law requires (typically 7 years). These are held by our payment processors and by us; we cannot legally delete them on request.
- Abuse / security records: if your account was actioned for a Terms of Service violation, we may retain a minimal record (account identifier + reason) to prevent repeat abuse.
5. Timing
- Acknowledgement: within 3 business days.
- Primary systems: deleted within 30 days of the verified request.
- Encrypted backups: purged within 90 days of the verified request.
6. What happens to any active subscription?
If you have an active subscription purchased through Google Play, deleting your Tejas account does not automatically cancel that subscription on Google's side. To stop future charges, please also cancel the subscription in your Google Play account: play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions.
7. Questions or help
If the in-app option doesn't work for you, or you're unsure whether deletion actually completed, email privacy@tejas.app and a human will answer. For a full description of how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
